Our hours are finite, and the risk of burnout is substantial. In contrast, passive or semi-passive income models are scalable and replicable.

There are still negative connotations regarding the term Passive Income. Links with pyramid schemes or MLM offers that reek of disingenuous tactics are everywhere.

Well, I can solemnly swear that there is no magic “get rich quick” scheme in existence. You do not sign up one night and wake up the following morning covered in cash.

The only overnight success I have experienced was getting more than 5 hours sleep! But I am living proof that a real “one-to-many” business model works, and is the only way to create a business that allows you to create the life you always wanted.

Let me tell you a snippet of my story. Seven years ago I was exhausted. My business was successful, I was fully booked as a business coach, yet I wasn’t earning the kind of money that I wanted to.

The problem was I had no way of taking on more clients because I was already doing too much as it was. So, I started learning a lot about recurring revenue and I went through the usual worries – what do I have to sell? Why would people buy from me? Did I even know enough about anything to make it work? But I loved the idea of creating a business model that aligned with my priorities. Namely spending more time with my family – so I learned everything I could and went for it! ​

At this point always remember that an expert is someone that knows the most about a subject in an average room. An average room. Not the world. Not the internet. Not your town. And believe me, there is definitely something you know more about right now than anyone in the room you’re in.

Because, your knowledge is not common knowledge.

To sell as an expert we only need to be a few stages up from where our ideal client is. Right now, someone, somewhere wants to know what you know. It all starts with working out what your recurring revenue idea could be, what has worked in the past and why even those that think they have nothing to offer, always do!

If you have knowledge that others want, you can sell it.​ And if they want what’s in your head, you can sell it!

I realised that I knew all the steps to take a fledgeling business, to streamline it, to make it more efficient and, thanks to my studying and learning, how to turn that knowledge into a programme that could be used by thousands at the same time without being restricted by the number of hours in a day.

One of my earliest signature programmes was a course for those who want to start making money with an online business. It’s a business basics course essentially.

It was what I would call a classic example of a Semi Passive Income product. Meaning that after creating the slides and the workbooks, I then worked an hour each week presenting each module to the people that bought it. Admittedly, an hour a week wasn’t a huge impact on my time, but it was still a set amount of time that I had to show up for.

At the time people laughed at me. They said that I was still having to show up to teach it so it was hardly passive income was it? And so they carried on serving clients in a 1-1 format.

However, let’s start with a simple equation. At the time if I was to take on a one to one client, I would have charged £20k for ten hours. My new course was £1500 per person. If 100 clients signed up, I would make £150k for an hours work each week over a period of 10 weeks. A far better return for those ten hours.

I no longer had to take on one to one clients, and now when I do it’s because I love the project and the client rather than because I need the money.

Over 90% of my multi 7 figure income comes from recurring revenue streams and I have so much more freedom to spend time with my family – I now spend 2 months every Summer and the whole of December traveling with my husband and my kids.

Remember, the number of hours in each day remains at 24 despite how slow or fast they may seem to pass. Logic would therefore dictate that you can only see a certain number of clients within 24 hours. The more you try to cram in, the less time you have to do the things you love, with the ones you love.

Your relationships and your productivity will all reach a point of no return, and then what?​

There can be no dispute that serving “One to Many” is the quickest way to make passive income, because trading time for money is not sustainable.
